test/test:123
Today (May 5, 2025) I (Chorist) released a track on Metalabel titled "test/test:123". It's my first finished track using a new setup I've been developing in Max/MSP, and it took me a long time to make.
You can listen to the track on that linked page above, and if you like it, you can collect it.
What does it mean to "collect" the track?
When you collect the track:
- you get the audio file (and the cover art I made)
- it doesn't cost any money.
- in return, you'll be giving me (and Metalabel) your email address
- No, crypto is not involved
I want your email address so that I can let you know when I release more work (which is not often). Metalabel probably wants you to join the site, which I think is a good site, run by honest, well-meaning people.
The whole idea of "collecting" a digital release seems a bit contrived, but collecting my release signifies to me that you like it. And that helps me feel encouraged when making more music, knowing that someone out there might listen to it (I'll make more music anyway, but encouragement feels good too).
The release is a limited run of 12. 12 people can collect it. That is of course arbitrary (it's digital). 12 people just felt like a realistic goal to set for myself.
